Our team recently took third place at the regional idea competition TUniCorn 2026 with Clara, an AI-supported voice documentation solution for nursing and care. Zaki Hussein and Dominik Schulz developed a system meant to relieve nurses of their daily documentation work. In many facilities, observations and measures are still noted by hand and entered later at a desktop PC, a time-consuming process that costs valuable time at the bedside.
Voice documentation in care is not new, but existing solutions usually depend on a stable internet connection, are monolingual and rely on non-European AI infrastructure. Our approach addresses these gaps: the system works offline, supports several languages and is based on a European AI model. It has already been trialled in live operation at a care facility in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, where the feedback from nursing staff showed a high willingness to integrate the system into everyday work.
As a next step we plan to connect it to the sector’s existing documentation systems and to improve the current system.
